Merry and Meowy Christmas!

From my "Meowy" house to yours, we wish you a very
Merry Christmas!

We have enjoyed our Christmas day thus far and our cats have too! Their heads have been jiggling, like these cuties, with their first laser pointer toy. Only 1 of our 4 cats gets it......but I'm sure the other 3 will clue in soon enough!

Our 3 children; my husband and I are spending a nice, quiet day together. We've had our Christmas spiral ham for lunch and will enjoy our traditional snacks watching a movie together, later. Tomorrow may hold some Boxing Day shopping, but we are pretty shopped out after our weekend in Portland.

New Year's Eve is another quiet family evening......the kids toasting with sparkling juice packaged up like wine.....Randy and I with our Christmas liqueurs.

We wish you all of the best for 2014 in life and love!

Holly in Glitter and Green!

Here are 2 more cards made at my Diecutting and Embossing class in December.
These cards started with another cutting plate from Taylored Expressions. I cut the holly from Topiary and Glitter cardstock. I added Red Glitz for the berries on both. The top one has a Cashmere cardstock mat on a White Daisy card base.
This Green Glitter cardstock holly, has a mat of Twilight on a White Daisy card base. The sentiments are from Merry & Bright and Scandinavian Wishes. Both are stamped in Ruby ink on a White Daisy with Ruby mat. The top sentiment has berries from Merry & Bright stamped in second generation Ruby and is tied up with Cranberry Baker's Twine.

Well, we are off to Portland tomorrow to do our Christmas shopping. We have 3 full days planned before our direct drive back to the Port Angeles ferry terminal. We will get home on Christmas Eve then enjoy more family time the rest of the week.

Should I be too tired to post then, I would like to wish each and everyone of you and your families a very Merry Christmas with much warmth and love!

The mat piece for both cards is Crystal Blue cardstock and the sentiments are from the stamp set, Snowflakes, stamped in Twilight ink.

Frosted and almost ready to Christmas shop!

This was a quick card I put together with Frosted Workshop On The Go stamp set and some snowflake die cuts I had on my table.
I stamped with White Daisy pigment ink on both Pacifica and Kraft cardstock with snow and snowflake images from the Frosted WOTG set. I added snowflakes cut with Lil' Inker Designs; Simon Says Stamp; and/or Taylored Expressions dies.

I stamped the sentiment with Pacifica pigment ink and backed it with Lagoon cardstock. Then some Silver Shimmer Trim and a few blue Sparkles and this card is done.

If you are wondering about my "Christmas shopping" statement....I have not done any! Normally, I am done in September or October. This year we decided to take a wee hop across the border to Portland on the 20th.....so I will do all of my shopping there!

Happy Thanksgiving and Chocolate Tins

Happy Thanksgiving.......I am a day late and a Black Friday dollar short! I hope each of you have a family and love filled weekend being thankful!

These are just 2 examples of chocolate filled tins I recently made, to sell at the annual craft fair I sell in.
I started with Hershey Nuggets purchased while in the U.S. I also ordered these wonderful tins from Paper Mart that fit 12 chocolates, perfectly.
I used the stamp set from Season's Tweetings in combination with Pear & Partridge and Sparkle & Shine paper. Each chocolate is wrapped with a 1" x 3" piece of patterned paper. Then the entire tin is wrapped with either coordinating cardstock or patterned paper.

The wreaths are stamped with Black Memento ink, then coloured in with Close To My Heart alcohol markers. I've added Ruby Chevron ribbon and some lovely retired velvet ribbon. You can not see it, but both wreaths are adorned with Stardust Glitz, also.

This snowflake die is an exclusive Simon Says Stamp die. First I cut if from fun foam, then inked it up with Twilight and Crystal Blue ink to stamp my background on Crystal Blue cardstock. I matted that with Twilight and also stamped my sentiment with Twilight ink. I backed the sentiment with a Glitter paper border.

The snowflake is cut from White Daisy cardstock and attached to Whisper and Twilight cardstock shapes with a Twilight Brad.

Sparkle & Shining while I "Trim the Tree"!

Here is the first card created for my latest Sparkle & Shine Workshop, featuring "Trim the Tree".
I was inspired by artwork made by Karen Pedersen with this set. I added a swiping motion to my ink pad while doing the tree, then used a Ruby marker to add the ornaments. The image stamped on the Ruby ribbon is from Merry & Bright and the sentiment from a retired stamp of the month, Very Merry Christmas.

I used our scallop punch for the borders. I added a wee bit of Silver Glitter paper and then the sweet, Sparkle Holiday Shapes to the Juniper stamped tree.

Creating a Stamp with your favourite steel die!

This is the 3rd card gals made at my Embossing & Die cutting class. Sometimes I find a die shape I love so much, I want to stamp with it, too. This snowflake is that image, so here is how I did the stamping.
First, I used the snowflake die, from Couture Creations to cut from fun foam. Then I just used my herma dots adhesive, on the snowflake, to attach it to a clear block. I inked it up with White Daisy pigment ink and stamped away on Kraft cardstock. It really is that easy to use any die to make a stamp.

I added some snowflake images from another stamp set to fill in the extra spaces. They were stamped with Desert Sand ink, from the Pear & Partridge WOTG stamp set.

Snowflakes.....oh beautiful snowflakes!

I LOVE snow and snowflakes! Since we do not get much of either on the "Wet" Coast of Vancouver Island, I decided to substitute with a paper snow storm! This is one of the cards made at my recent Embossing & Die cut card class.
I wanted to utilize a non-traditional Christmas colour and went with the gorgeous purples of Close To My Heart's, Laughing Lola paper. I stamped the sentiment from, Merry & Bright, in Black ink on Lagoon cardstock. The border patterned strips are the zip strips cut from the patterned paper.

This lovely wool felt is from My Favorite Things and is "Grapesicle" in colour. I cut the snowflake with a die from Couture Creations, purchased from Crop Stop. I added a Glitter Paper star to the centre of the snowflake. It was what remained on my cutting mat after cutting a snowflake with Artiste.

OMG.....here is another card with Season's Tweetings using Red and Turqouise....can't stop!
I LOVE this colour combo and the Season's Tweetings stamp set that comes with the gorgeous, large gift bags. I have followed along the same colours as my previous 2 cards before this one.

Randomly stamped flower on Ruby and White Daisy cardstock for backgrounds. I used Lagoon cardstock for the accent. Here I've used a corduroy flower for an extra accent on my Ruby Chevron ribbon that is atop my Ruby Washi tape on Lagoon cardstock border! I've also added a Sparkle to the centre of my flower.

The sweet Owl is coloured with our Lagoon alcohol set of markers. The wreath has been coloured with Ruby; Sweet Leaf and Lagoon alcohol markers. I've also added some Stardust Glitz.

I started by random stamping the flower image with Ruby ink on coordinating cardstock. I matted this piece with Lagoon cardstock on a White Daisy card base. I used the Ruby pattern washi tape, from Sparkle & Shine, and applied it to Lagoon cardstock for the border. I wrapped the border up with Ruby Metallic Baker's Twine.

I stamped mistletoe and sentiment with Black Memento ink. I coloured the images in with Sweet Leaf; Ruby; and Lagoon alcohol markers. I added some Stardust Glitz to each  berry, then stamped the ribbon image in Ruby ink.

See you later, Scandinavian Wishes!

I must say October's stamp of the month, Scandinavian Wishes, was one of my all time favourites! Here is the 3rd card from my Sparkle & Shine workshop.
Now, if you haven't seen the Sparkle & Shine paper up close, the silver on this pattern is shimmery. It is a lovely, understated touch to this fabulous paper. We stamped the bulb from, Scandinavian Wishes, in Ruby ink on the coordinating Cricut cut. The scallop border is in Ruby cardstock and the sentiment stamped in Ruby ink is on Juniper cardstock. There is a strip of Glitter paper and the bulb has been tied up with Grey Wool Baker's Twine.

Sparkle & Shine Workshop

Here is the first card of four, that gals at my recent Sparkle & Shine workshop created.
Each gal got a Sparkle & Shine paper pack, with precut pieces and embellishments for each card. They also received stamp sets: Merry & Bright and Tree Delights.

They cut the patterned paper into 3 strips that were 4" wide. Then cut those at 5 1/4" so they had 6 of each pattern. I provided one design and they could substitute any pattern from Sparkle & Shine, that they wanted.

For this card we stamped Tree Delights with Juniper ink, then added Red Glitz and a Sparkle on top. The sentiment was stamped in Slate ink, from October's stamp of the month, Scandinavian Wishes. The cardstock colours are White Daisy; Ruby; Juniper and Slate. We finished the card off with our Ruby Chevron ribbon.

I don't normally make too many tags, but this year I decided I would sell some and use them as gifts for my customers.
I started with Sparkle & Shine patterned paper. I stamped the trees from, Trim the Tree and stamped them with Slate and Juniper ink. I added a tree from the Sparkle Holiday Shapes, then adhered the trees to the circle centerpiece. The three words are stamped from October's stamp of the month, Scandinavian Wishes in Slate; Juniper and Ruby ink. I also stamped the white circle with the border image from Scandinavian Wishes in second generation Slate ink.

The top shape and sentiment are from, Holiday Tags. The border is stamped in Slate and the sentiment in Ruby. I finished the tag off with Ruby and Grey Wool Baker's Twine.

Always Grateful Christmas

I was invited to provide a project for a gathering of very crafty Ladies. They requested a Christmas themed card and here it is.
This gathering was hosted in September and I didn't quite have all of my Christmas stamps out yet. When I saw this tree in the Always Grateful set, I knew I could switch things up. The tree is stamped with Twilight ink in first and second generation. Then we added some Liquid Applique to the branches and used a heat gun to puff it up, like snow.

The sentiment is from, Merry & Bright, and was stamped in Pacifica ink. I cut the tag with Art Philosophy, then we added some Silver Shimmer Ribbon and Sparkles. The gorgeous pattern paper, in the background, is from Frosted.

The border is Lagoon, tied up with Lagoon Baker's Twine and a Sweet Leaf button. (I miss our buttons!) The sentiments are from, Joyful Birthday.

Christmas Tag

I am having trouble putting down the polka dot paper from Sparkle & Shine.....I LOVE polka dots! I wanted to create a tag for an upcoming workshop and here is a possible candidate.
Everything on this tag is cut with Close To My Heart's 3 Cricut cartridges. I stamped the tag on the card with an image from October's Stamp of the Month, Scandinavian Wishes. I love this stamp set.....it is by far one of my favourite Christmas stamp sets. This tag is on a Juniper card.

I cut rolled flowers from the polka dot paper, yet rolled them so you could see the candy cane stripe pattern on the other side. I added Glitter Sparkles gems to each of their centres. I cut the flourish image from Juniper cardstock, then added Cranberry and Grey Wool Baker's Twine to complete this tag.

Scandinavian Wishes

Close To My Heart's October Stamp of the Month is, Scandinavian Wishes. I was in a lifting mood and created this card.
I used the gorgeous polka dot patterned paper, from Sparkle & Shine. I stamped some Slate cardstock with the border stamp, in coordinating ink, for the bottom piece. I added our Ruby Chevron ribbon and some Red Sparkles. I stamped the main image in Ruby ink and the sentiment in Slate. Once I inked the main image on my stamp, I dragged the stamp across the ink pad to create this swiped ink look. I added some Stardust Glitz to the flower centres.

I lifted many aspects of this card from a couple of other consultants....namely Karen Pedersen and Nancy Brown. You can see their versions by finding their links on the lower right hand side of my blog.
