What to do with those scraps!

Except for the Art Philosophy cuts, this card is made from scraps.

About 8 months ago I started trying to make better use of my patterned paper and cardstock. I started cutting my 12 x 12 into 4" pieces, so I could get 6 bases from each piece. If you look back, you'll notice most of my cards have an 1/8" border of either a White Daisy or Colonial White card base.

While cutting like this I noticed I always had a piece left over, after cutting my 2 - 4 x 5 1/4 pieces. It was fairly large......1 1/2 x 4, so rather than stuffing them with my other scraps, I started keeping them in one place. The result has been a large stash of these same sized papers, perfect for ribbon style cards.

I used some zip strips from Chantilly to go along with my Later Sk8r pieces. The sentiment is from Joyful Birthday and the stars were stamped with images from the Later Sk8r Workshop On The Go Kit stamp set.

Haven't forgotten Flirty yet.....

While I was not overly smitten with Flirty patterned paper, the stamp set in the Workshop On The Kit, was pretty wonderful. This beautiful stamped image is from that set.

I inked up an embossing folder with Sunset ink, then embossed some coordinating cardstock. I added a border of Hollyhock, then some Sunset Baker's Twine. The image is stamped with Hollyhock ink and this simple card is done.

A sweet Claire album

For the last month of my Project Hostess Club, the gals and I put this sweet album together. I had a lot of help creating it by using the pieces from the album we made at CTMH convention in Dallas, along with Claire Workshop On The Go Kit.

We stamped with Hollyhock; Sunset and Desert Sand ink. We used the Keyboard Kraft Alphabet that came in the kit and cut many stamped shapes out. I also cut some shapes Art Philosophy and Artiste.

Spinning the Wheel of Life

I did not originally consider getting stamp set, Wheel Of Life. Once I reread all of the words, I thought it would be a good addition with some sentiments that were a little different.

I have been trying to use up my scraps. You know the scraps you get from cutting a 4" strip from a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock. Then you further cut it down for two cards at 5 1/4, thus leaving you a 1 1/2 inch strip. Well I have been saving these in all patterned and solid colours. I'm using ones from Claire and Footloose here along with some Clementine patterned paper.

I embossed the patterned paper first, then edged it with Saddle ink. I stamped the sentiment with Saddle ink over top of a Sunset second generation image from Clementine WOTG stamp set. I added some Sunset striped grosgrain ribbon and called it done!

All supplies are Close To My Heart,  unless noted.

Bird Kissing!

Ha, I wondered if that heading might get some attention....sounded weird! I have really been enjoy all of the bird stamps I have and decided to do a wee bit of kissing with this sweet bird from, Hello Blooms.

I used patterned paper from Chantilly and used Outdoor Denim ink to edge it. I used a retired set, Backgrounds & Borders to stamp the Pear images on the Pear cardstock; and to kiss the bird with.

The bird was inked with Pear ink and the background stamp inked with Outdoor Denim ink. I gently kissed them together, then stamped this now patterned birdie. I used the great target image from Hello Blooms to stamp in second generation Pear. The sentiment is stamped in Outdoor Denim.

We added Sweet Leaf stitched grosgrain ribbon with an Outdoor Denim button tied up with Natural Hemp.

The background is Chocolate cardstock stamped with coordinating ink. I cut this cardstock using a die from Lil' Inker Designs. It adds the stitching lines to the edges. I added some Ruby cardstock and our yummy Chocolate striped ribbon.

This card was a bit of an experiment to see which embossing folder would look good with Clementine patterned paper. Polka dots won!

Animal Rewards for someone special!

I have a customer who has recently referred several gals to my classes. She is also a pet sitter, who cared for our cats while we went shopping in Portland. I wanted to reward her with this special stamp set and some cards.

I used Close To My Heart's Petite Perks stamp set called, Critter Expressions. I punched hexagons with my CM punch, then stamped each one with an image from our new Honeycomb set. The birdie is stamped in Cocoa ink, then the Honeycomb image is second generation Lagoon. The Lagoon cardstock was stamped with an image from Patterned Pennants in coordinating ink.

I followed along from the first card with another Honeycomb image in second generation Cocoa ink. The background is stamped with another image from Patterned Pennants, also in Cocoa ink on coordinating cardstock.

This sweet elephant got some Cotton Candy ink treatment with the same stamp sets, mentioned above.

Finally, this cute cat was treated to some Sunset ink. My customer was thrilled with this stamp set and card set. I am very thankful for her as a customer and wonderful pet sitter.

Oh Snap!

I'm back with more cards that my Hostess Card Club made. These were part of our March class, using the Sightseer stamp set.

I have to say I was indifferent to this stamp set when I first saw it. I liked the camera image and thought the bathroom boy and girl were an interesting addition. I didn't however, know what other images I would use from this set. Once I got the set, I soon discovered it may end up getting lots of use for more masculine cards. So here is what we did.

We stamped the chevron in Twilight ink on coordinating cardstock. The chicken wire image is stamped on Whisper cardstock and is from the Distressed Backgrounds set. The camera we stamped once in Pear and in Lagoon ink. Then we added buttons and the sentiment.....which is a staple around my house with 3 teenagers! The patterned paper is from Later Sk8r.

A Little Birdie told me "HELLO"!

Well, it has been a beautiful array of weather in Victoria this past weekend. We had wonderful sunny hours; hours sprinkled with rain; a few light hail minutes; rainbows here and there; and let's not forget several overcast hours. I LOVE our weather....and in 5 minutes I can be sure it will have changed!

Here is another sweet tweet with Hello Blooms!

I used this wonderful chevron  paper from Claire and added some Hollyhock cardstock underneath. The border cardstock is Sunset and the shape mat is Outdoor Denim. I stamped the bird cage chain, from Hello Tweety, along the border with Outdoor Denim ink. I added some edge anchors to the top and bottom.

The centerpiece is this sweet birdie from Hello Blooms. The birdie and sentiment are stamped with Outdoor Denim ink. The background is stamped with the tiny bulls eye looking image, in second generation Hollyhock and Sunset ink.

I lifted this card from Karen Pedersen's blog to recreate it with my embossing and die cut class in March.

We started with lovely patterned paper from Chantilly. We used a Lacey Circle die from Spellbinders and a Tim Holtz die for the butterfly.

We added Blush and White Daisy ric rac ribbon and Sparkles to our cards. The sentiment is from my wonderful retired, umbrella and rubber boot stamp set, whose name has escaped me.

Birds of a feather.........

I LOVE my Fiskars Fuse and wanted to share this wonderful bird with gals at my embossing and die cutting class in March.

We started with Caprice paper and embossed it with a Sizzix embossing folder. There is Twilight cardstock underneath Cashmere cardstock we stamped. We used the bulls eye and "Hello" stamp from Hello Blooms and the "You're Tweet" stamp from April's stamp of the month, My Sunshine. All were stamped in Saddle ink.

Our birdie was cut; embossed; and inked on Kraft paper with Cocoa ink. Since we were using this Fiskars Fuse die with either a Big Shot, we had to add an extra piece of cardstock with the Kraft so the embossing wouldn't split the bird.

We added Twilight buttons; Burlap ribbon; Sparkles and Colonial White Waxy Flax to complete these cards

All supplies are Close To My Heart, unless noted.
Stamps: My Sunshine; Hello Blooms
Paper: Caprice
Ink: Cocoa; Saddle

Later Sk8r with Chantilly meet swirly cuts!

At my March embossing and die cut class, I started with the gals using this amazing, swirly, cutting plate from Taylored Expressions.

We started with a base of Later Sk8r and Chantilly. We used the cutting plate and cut both Lagoon and Twilight cardstock at the same time. This die is amazing and with a few taps on our work table, most of the swirls just pop out of the cut piece.

I added cut pieces from Art Philosophy to be stamped with an image from Frame Flair in Lagoon and Twilight ink. The sentiment is from Joyful Birthday and is stamped in Black ink. We added some Sparkles to complete these two cards.

All supplies are Close To My Heart, unless noted.
